While I am embrassed at how stickin' long it's been since we've blogged on here, this is one of my attempts to change that. You see, I have for several weeks now been observing how much I am a consumer versus a creator or contributor to life. When we consume we get good ideas, but they remain that... good ideas. When we consume we are depleated because all the information and goodness we can consume doesn't change us, it just sits in us and is wasted. For someone with the Strength of Input I love to collect ideas, but I have to be careful that my collecting doesn't just become consuming of information for no reason. So, I've been asking myself lately how I am spending my time. Am I contributing to people, allowing what I read to change me, and tap into my creativity or am I just consuming information to pass the time.
With facebook and twitter now, it's easy to read posts and links without allowing them to really taking root. So this fall, I'm choosing to slow down and seek to allow the things I read to change and challenge me, not just fill me up as an information container. I wonder if you'll join me in choosing to create instead of just consume. Here are two people I don't know personally, but who I think are living in the ways I want to, creatively and thoughfully. Many Steward and Blaine Hogan. I am blessed by their words and art.
Are you a creator and contributor rather than just a consumer?
